Big Day for Hillsdale's Jared Veldheer in Denver

Having split time most of the season at left tackle with Mario Henderson, Hillsdale grad and Oakland Raider rookie Jared Veldheer's hard work has finally earned him the starting position.

Veldheer and the Raiders celebrated that accomplishment on Sunday with 59-14 dismantling of arch-rival Denver. The ex-Charger didn't spend the whole game on the edge, although he played tremendously. Starting center Sampson Satele suffered a concussion and the Oakland staff moved Jared over to snap the ball.

"He did a lot of tremendous things," (Raider Coach Tom) Cable said of Veldheer, "and then we had to move him to center, and we didn't miss a beat."

Way to go big man!
