Everything that did not happen right at Indianapolis for Hillsdale, did happen this Saturday as the Chargers turned in a fantastic finish to their tilt with Wayne State. Vinnie Panizzi turned in a great ground performance for Hillsdale as he had his best day ever in blue and white. The sophomore carried 28 times for 158 yards and a touchdown. Mark Nicolet got his 6th straight 300 yard game with a 26 of 33, 312 yard, 0 interception, 3 touchdown performance. Nick Gurica led all receivers with 167 yards on 13 catches and all three of those touchdown passes from Nicolet. The biggest td came in the 4th quarter to give Hillsdale a 34-21 lead which with the Mark Petro extra point turned out to be the final score.
The Charger defense turned in a gutty effort, playing without its leader Tom Korte who continues to nurse an ankle injury. The Chargers got big, big stops in the final quarter as Wayne was forced to go to the air while playing catch up. Alex Wocjik had 13 stops and true freshman Cody Henderson had 10. Evan Brown forced and recovered a big fumble in the first half.
HC moves to 5-2 and remains in the playoff hunt.
