In his first game action in the Arena Football League, Hillsdale's Troy Weatherhead went 10-of-14 for 178 yards and threw four touchdowns in a backup role on Friday night for the Cleveland Gladiators. Cleveland lost to Utah 76-69 but had already clinched a playoff spot and its divisional title.
The Gladiators head into the Arena League playoffs next Sunday at 3:00 in Cleveland. The opponent has yet to be announced.
Weatherhead joined the Gladiators at the beginning of the summer when he moved to Cleveland to start a job in the health care industry. He is still awaiting the NFL to sort out its labor issues and to get a call from a team as an undrafted free agent.
Also on the Cleveland roster are former Chargers Drew Berube and AJ Kegg. Both have spent time on injured reserve.
