Snub stokes Hillsdale-Wayne State rivalry
Hillsdale’s Joe Glendening has 3,916 career rushing yards, but posted two sub-100-yard games in the last two meetings with Wayne State. (Patrick Heckenlively/Hillsdale College)
It's not a battle cry, but it turned into motivation for Hillsdale College.
Hillsdale believed it should have been the team from Michigan that made an improbable run through the Division II playoffs last season. It believed it was every bit as good as Wayne State.
But it was Wayne State that was invited to the postseason. And it was Wayne State that made an improbable run to the championship game, where it lost.
So, what did the Hillsdale players do about it?
The day after the perceived snub, guys were in the weight room preparing for 2012.
So far, so good.
Hillsdale is 4-1, with its only loss coming to No. 11 California (Pa.) in the opener.
Now it's time.
